The Littlest Nutley - Ultrasound 03/06/12

We finally got to see the new little babe today and he or she is adorable! The pictures aren't super clear because he or she is VERY active but we did manage to get a couple of pretty cute ones. Take a look:

This is the little cutie's profile.

Here is a foot.

And here is the face.

They were able to determine the gender during the scan today but due to policy we aren't able to know until we reach 21 weeks which is not next Monday, but the following one (the 19th). Its a bit frustrating but it will be here soon enough! We'll be sure to share ASAP, don't worry!

Quack-Quacks

Nearing the end of February now and the 3 of us are definitely ready to start spending more time outdoors. We took a frozen walk over to the duck pond down the street. We're still bordering on 0° here and it even snowed a little after we got home. Nana and Grumpy came along too and took some great pics.

The "quack-quacks" must have been starving because they rioted when we started tossing some bread for them. Livi watched in awe at these strange creatures that don't look anything like her rubber ducky that floats around her bath tub.

The new little Nutley is doing great. The doctors appointment a few weeks ago turned out great. Heard the heartbeat again and Sam is doing great as well. KOW. We're going to the ultrasound a week from today and will hopefully find out what we're having (boy or girl) a few weeks after that. I bet the anticipation is going to drive Sam nuts. Should be a good time!

Stinky Feet!

Its been quite a while since we posted anything on here so, since there really hasn't been much going on, I thought I would just share a cute video for those of you who aren't on Facebook. :-) In case you can't tell, we pretend that Liv has stinky feet... a lot!

We have the new baby's ultrasound coming up on March 6th so we'll be sure to post photos of that afterwards and once we find out the gender (a few weeks later) we'll let everyone know as well! I (mommy) felt him or her kick a couple of (TINY) times last night which was very strange because although it hasn't been very long, I had almost forgotten what it feels like. Of course as soon as I felt it, I knew what it was and was very happy! Hopefully it won't be too long before daddy and Livi can feel it too!

Oh yeah we're pregnant

I think it's a peach now that our little Nutley has grown to the size of. Pretty far along but still a long way to go. Sam is doing great as she did last time. She handles pregnancy very well and complains very little. She does lots for herself and is able to spend the day running after our little monster. A natural mother.

Things are a bit different this go around in the fact that lots of times, we completely forget that there's a baby on the way. You'll catch yourself thinking all of a sudden "Oh yeah, we'll have another one of these in July." KOW.

Olivia is currently fighting a cold. Only her second or third since she's been born which is good. She's very congested and coughing right now which wakes her up quite a bit. She woke up a few times last night and was a bit of a struggle getting her back to sleep. Thankfully my wife took care of that one and spent a while in her rocking chair soothing the little Smellybean back to sleep.

February should be a quick month with lots going on. A doctors appointment in a few weeks for another checkup on Sam and Livi's flushot. Then we're into March where we go for another ultrasound and eventually find out whether Livi's going to be a big sister or brother.....wait that's not right.

Adding to the Nutley horde

Come July little Miss Nutley is going to have a little brother or sister.

Last week we heard the heartbeat at Sam's 3 month checkup. Both Sam and the baby are very healthy. KOW. He/she is currently the size of a peach and apparently is already kicking. We had one ultrasound last month but there wasn't much more than a dot to look at. We've got one scheduled in March that will show us a better pic as well as telling us whether it's a boy (Mortimer) or a girl (Mortimena). Those are not names we're considering AT ALL but some goofy name's we've been using so far.

Livi is doing great. We keep finding out more and more everyday how smart the little stinker is. She can point out people and Sesame Street characters in pictures. She says a lot of different words now and not just repeating what we say to her. She's very good with shapes and matching as well as figuring out how things work.

She's eating a huge variety of foods now including meat, eggs, dairy and chunks of fruit and vegetables. We're in the process of switching from formula to full on milk which is going well. She's not picky yet which is good.

So yeah, there we go. Big news from the Nutley house. Things are obviously busier than before. In addition to all of this we've got a 13 month old who runs and grabs and yells and eats and poops EVERYTHING! She also laughs and smiles and makes us laugh so I'm not complaining.

ONE YEAR OLD!

I can't believe its been a whole year already, but its official...Olivia Rees is ONE!
Our sweet girl has grown so much in the past year its astonishing! She has learned to walk, grown 10+ teeth and can say a handful of words like: mama, dada, nana, daryl, uhoh, santa, don't and good girl among others. She is the sweetest, kindest, funniest baby you'll ever meet but definitely has an emerging wild side as well. The next few years are sure to be interesting as she already keeps us on our toes!

Anyway, thank you to everyone who has been involved in our little girl's life so far. We have been blessed with this little sweetheart and thank you for your wonderful influences on her life.

Here's looking forward to the next year!

Happy Holidays.

Christmas Is Coming!

Christmas is coming!! So, we spent the weekend, well mostly Sunday, having a lot of Christmas fun! Friday night we decorated our tree and watched a bunch of Christmas movies, which is always mommy's favourite part. Then after a nice low key day at home on Saturday, we set out for our very busy Sunday.
First we went and did a little bit of Christmas shopping, Olivia loved walking through the mall (mommy is so proud!) and then we headed downtown to see the Santa Claus Parade.
It was crowded and very COLD but SO much fun! Livi even got to meet Santa in person!
After that we made our way over to Stanley Park to ride the Christmas train (traffic took FOREVER!). Livi had a great time looking at the lights and trying to sing along to all of the Christmas music.
Finally, after our very long day, we ended up at Nana and Grandad Nutley's house for dinner and Olivia helped decorate their tree. She was a wonderful helper! We can't believe that in just two weeks our little munchkin will be ONE! Her birthday party (on the 17th) is going to be so much fun!

Surprise!

This past Saturday, we had a trial run for Olivia's first birthday party...

Liv's Godmother, Auntie Kinsey, threw her a Surprise Birthday Party because she will be working in Florida for the month of December, meaning she'll miss the real party.

It was a Princess/Cupcake theme and fortunately (after a previous wardrobe/diaper malfunction) Livi's outfit matched the theme PERFECTLY!

Livi had never opened a real present before...she was SO excited!

Livi especially loved her Princess Hat!

Kinsey gave her a Disney Princess tent and sleeping bag set, which packed up neatly into a great little backpack. Once Liv had her bag all packed, she grabbed the in flight announcement booklet and was ready to go be a Flight Attendant with Kinsey right away!

We set up the tent in Livi's play area this morning and she absolutely LOVES it! She's been crawling in and out, bringing in new toys and shrieking with delight since I finished putting it together!

Thank you again to Auntie Kinsey for going out of your way to make Livi's first birthday SO special. We love you SO much!

As we mentioned in our last post, Liv's first birthday is quickly approaching (crazy!) so we thought we would post the details of her party here for those who live far away or just in case your invite didn't arrive like it should have:

Here is the invitation we sent out (designed by Mommy):

at The Salus Aqua Club
6671 121 Street in Surrey

11 months

Well it's been a while. Seems that I start most blogs this way. Guess that's due to not having the time to write as often as I'd like. Chasing a very active 11 month old and working full time definitely keeps your life pretty full.

That's right, Livi is just about 11 months old which means in about a month we will be celebrating her first birthday. Crazy to think how much our life has changed in the last year.

Now on to the important stuff, Olivia! She has grown up quite a lot in the last little while. She talks a lot. From saying hi to every stranger we pass on the sidewalk to calling for "Mama" "Dada" or growling "Papa" for Grumpy.

She stands completely on her own with full confidence. She has still only taken a few steps at a time but walking is right around the corner.

Her newest trick is our favourite. Kissing on command. Very sweet.

Well better get back to work. Sorry for the short post.

She's a very good girl and we love her very much.

Little Miss MESSY!

Recently, I purchased a couple of books from the Little Miss series for Liv and we've been reading them before bed. She loves them but somehow seemed to discover one that I didn't purchase and has taken some major inspiration from it's title character.

Livi has decided that she MUCH prefers to play with her food rather than eat it...Maybe she's trying to tell me she wanted to be Little Miss Messy for Halloween! Here is some pretty funny photo evidence:

Beets and Sweet Potatoes became finger paints instead of lunch the other day...

and this morning's banana cereal became hair gel instead of breakfast! I suppose it didn't help that when she splattered some on Sean he gave up and started smearing it all over her too! lol! Oh well...at least we had a fun morning!

We're off to a friend's daughter's Birthday Party this afternoon and its a costume party too so we're looking forward to a lot of fun! Photos will be posted soon!

Happy (and Safe!) Halloween Weekend Everyone!

The Nutley Pumpkins!

Here is the BEFORE:

And...the AFTER! Don't they look great?!

And here are the spooky pumpkins all lit up..."Daddy" is on the left, "Mommy" is on the right, the little "Livi" Pumpkin is in the middle and our "Nut-ley" pumpkins are the tiny ones at the front right.

Oh, and of course an adorable photo of Liv with the littlest pumpkin!

Happy (almost) Halloween everyone!
Stay tuned for Olivia's costume photos next week!

To the Pumpkin Patch we go...

We took Livi to visit her first Pumpkin Patch last night and she had a great time! We all did! We got to go on a hay ride, feed some goats and we each picked out a pumpkin to bring home.

Here is the Patch we visited. Its right by Sean's work but VERY hard to find...stinkin TomTom took us on a ridiculous trip in a few circles before we evenutally found it even CLOSER to Carmanah than we had thought!

Liv and Daddy on the Hay Ride having a great time!

Liv hanging out with the pumpkins...some of them were bigger than she was!

Mommy and Liv checking out the actual pumpkin patch. We ended up selecting a Daddy pumpkin, Mommy pumpkin and a Livi pumpkin and we're really looking forward to carving them this weekend! We'll post pictures once they're finished.

Walk this Way

The Livster took her first few steps the other day. She was holding on to the couch while standing, turned around and walked over to the other couch with 2 shaky and wobbly steps. Not much of a walk but a very good start. We were able to recreate it once more after that by bribing her with an Xbox controller. We've tried it a few more times but we're not going to push it. We'll let her figure this out on her own.

She can easily walk alongside me holding one hand. Well maybe easily isn't the right word. It's not a very straight line and if she did that at a roadblock the VPD would have her in the back of a paddy-wagon. It is a lot of progress though.

Go Canucks!

The new Canucks season is only a few weeks away and we can't wait. Practice started up at Rogers Arena early Saturday morning and an invite was sent out to the fans to come to the stadium and watch. We took advantage of this opportunity to see the team and have some fun downtown. Livi loved it and actually clapped as the players came out.We all wore our Canucks gear and really had a great time. Here's hoping for another successful season.

De la Dinde

If I still remember my Grade 11 French (which I don't), that is supposed to mean "the turkey". Our little girl is now a little carnivore. She has eaten turkey and sweet potato and apparently liked it. We're still waiting to see what it does to her diaper situation.

Livi also picked up clapping which she does when you call her "good girl". Most of the time she keeps one hand stationary and moves the other one. Still counts as a clap even though her tiny hands don't make any noise whatsoever.

Things are going good in the Nutley household. Keeping busy and having fun. That's all for now. Feel free to comment with any questions or requests.

You can reach right up and touch the sky

OK so it's been a while. a LONG while.

I've started a new job in the last month and Sam's been starting her own company. All that plus chasing around an 8 month old keeps us pretty busy.

It's been a busy summer. We had planned to keep it quiet and relax and for the most part that's what we've done. With the exception of our camping trip last month, we've stayed in Vancouver and just visited many of the wonderful things we have a available in our beautiful city.

Livi has definitely grown since my last update. Just looking at that post it mentions that she had just gotten teeth, is almost 100% on bottles and started babbling. Now at 8 months she has 8 fully protruded teeth, she is eating baby food, drinking bottles and even eating Cheerios and has moved past babbling.

Her front 8 teeth (4 top and 4 bottom) are all fully in. It has changed the look of her face and her facial expressions. She bites things (including fingers) so watch out. She even grinds them sometimes which seems to make some people queasy. Apparently it's just her "discovering" them and she'll grow out of it.

Olivia has a small list of fruits and vegetables that she eats very regularly and she seems to like them all. Peas, green beans, carrots, butternut squash, sweet potatoes, pears, apples, peaches, bananas are all on there. She usually make a face when she tries a fruit on it's own. She also eats Cheerios and puffs on her own when we put them on her tray in front of her. Her tiny little crab pinchers pick them up and 50% make it into her mouth. the other 50% is usually stuck to her lip or on the floor.

She's also started a very small list of words. "Uh-oh" is technically her first though since it's pretty much two noises, in my mind I'm going to go with "Daddy" as her first. Right now she's very close to getting "Good girl" although it's mor elik e"Ggggggoo Ghhhhhlll". Almost the same thing.

Camping last month was a lot of fun. Auntie Daryla nd Uncle Alex joined us for 3 nights at Nairn Falls which is roughly 20mins past Whistler. It was a nice quiet campground with lots of scenery to take in. We hiked up to the falls one day as seen in the pic below. Lvi was strapped to my chest and managed to fall asleep despite the rocky terrain.

On Sam's birthday, we took a trip to Whistler for the day where we met up with Grandad Paddy and Nana Nutley. The Livster did very well the whole time "roughing it". Keeping the mosquitoes away from her was the only real problem we seemed to have.

Other than that our summer as a family of three has been fully loaded with trips around the city and taking advantage of the great weather. We should still have another month before fall sets in so I'm sure we'll have more to do.
